What is the KDS
The KDS (Kitchen Display System) is a screen that shows pending preparation orders in real time. It replaces physical kitchen tickets and lets the team know exactly what to prepare and in what order.
- Orders arrive automatically from the POS.
- The kitchen team can mark items as ready.
- Floor staff can see order status at any time.
Activate the KDS
- Go to Point of Sale from the main menu.
- Select the active location.
- Click KDS in the top menu to open the kitchen display view.
The KDS works best on a dedicated screen, such as a tablet or secondary monitor in the preparation area.
Order flow
- The cashier registers the sale in the POS.
- The order automatically appears in the KDS with the items to prepare.
- The kitchen team prepares the items and marks them as ready in the KDS.
- The order updates to indicate it is ready to serve.
Shift management
Shifts allow you to control the service flow and assign turn numbers to customers in high-volume businesses.
- Enable shifts from the POS settings.
- When a sale is registered, the system automatically assigns a turn number.
- The turn number is printed on the customer's ticket.
- From the KDS you can call the turn when the order is ready.
Configure KDS zones
If you have multiple preparation areas (kitchen, bar, desserts), you can configure each KDS zone to only show the items assigned to it.
- Go to Settings > Print zones.
- Associate product categories to each zone.
- Open the KDS on each screen and select the corresponding zone.
